Your weakest step

Money from messages and tips

73% of your earnings come from messages and tips. Fanvue reports about 84% for a creator's first two months.

This step is more than a tenth below the figure Fanvue publishes, and further below it than any other step.

How to use the funnel check

  1. Pick one account and one full month. Mixing two accounts or two months makes every rate wrong.
  2. Enter profile visits, clicks on your Fanvue link and new subscribers. These three are the funnel.
  3. If you can, add what subscriptions earned and what messages and tips earned. That shows whether your money comes from where Fanvue says most of it comes from.
  4. If you can, add how many fans subscribed last month and how many of them renewed. That gives your renewal rate.
  5. Read the weakest step and open the guide next to it. Change one thing, then run next month's numbers and compare.
  6. To ask about your result, use Copy link to this result. The link opens this page with your numbers filled in.

To see which channel sends fans, give each one its own tracking link. Fanvue's own advice:

"Use Tracking Links to see which platform or post is actually driving fans to your page, rather than guessing. Create one per platform (e.g. "Instagram Bio," "TikTok Teaser") and compare which one converts best, not just which gets the most clicks."

A worked example

These are invented numbers for one month. They are not a target and not a typical result. They are the numbers the tool opens with.

Profile visits
12,000
Link clicks
480
New subscribers
24
Earned from subscriptions
$430
Earned from messages and tips
$1,150
Last month's new subscribers, renewed
7 of 20
Visit to click
480 ÷ 12,000 = 4.0%
Click to subscriber
24 ÷ 480 = 5.0%
Share from messages and tips
1,150 ÷ 1,580 = 73%
Renewal rate
7 ÷ 20 = 35%

Two steps can be compared with Fanvue's figures. Messages and tips bring in 73% against about 84%, and 35% renewed against roughly 4 in 10. Both are more than a tenth below. Messages are further below, so the tool names money from messages and tips as the weakest step. The guide for that step is about the inbox: what to send a new fan in their first week.

What the funnel check assumes

Only two published figures. The tool compares a step with a figure only when the platform itself publishes one. For AI accounts, that is two numbers from Fanvue's help centre. The first is the earnings mix:

In a creator's first two months, "the subscription itself accounts for only around ~10% of what they earn. The largest share, around ~60%, comes from paid messages in DMs." "In a creator's first two months, renewals make up only around 6% of earnings."

Fanvue Help — Subscription Pricing & Retention Guide (opens in a new tab)checked

So about 84% of a new creator's earnings come from something other than the subscription. The tool compares your messages and tips share with that number. It is an average for new creators across the whole platform. An older account earns more from renewals, so its share can be lower without anything being wrong.

The second is how many subscriptions last past the first month:

"Roughly 4 in 10 subscriptions last beyond the first 30-day cycle" and "about 1 in 4 last 90 days or longer."

Fanvue Help — Subscription Pricing & Retention Guide (opens in a new tab)checked

No figure for the top of the funnel. Neither Fanvue nor the social platforms publish a visit-to-click or click-to-subscriber rate for AI accounts. Rates you see in courses and on social media have no source anyone can open. So the tool shows your own number for those steps and compares nothing.

How the weakest step is picked. First, a step that is more than a tenth below Fanvue's figure. That tenth is our own rule, so a small gap is not called a problem. If several are below, the one furthest below wins. If none is, the tool picks the step where you lose the most people: the lower of your two click rates.

All the numbers are yours. The tool divides what you type in. It does not know your price, your niche or your platform, and it makes no forecast. The figures are for Fanvue (affiliate link, opens in a new tab), because it is the platform we use, with a published rule that allows AI creators.

Questions people ask

Nobody publishes one for AI accounts. Fanvue gives no figure for profile visits or link clicks, and neither do the social platforms. Use your own rate from last month as the number to beat, and compare your channels with a separate Fanvue tracking link for each one.

How much of Fanvue income comes from messages?

Fanvue says that in a creator's first two months about 60% of earnings come from paid messages. The subscription itself is about 10% and renewals about 6%. So roughly 84% comes from messages, tips and everything else that is not the subscription.

How many Fanvue subscribers renew after the first month?

Fanvue says roughly 4 in 10 subscriptions last beyond the first 30-day cycle, and about 1 in 4 last 90 days or longer.

Does the funnel check tell me what I will earn?

No. It only divides the numbers you type in. It shows where your people drop off and how your mix compares with two figures Fanvue publishes. It makes no forecast.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The numbers stay in your browser. They are written into the page address so you can share the result, and only you decide whether to share that link.
